She’d been an older mother, almost forty—her pregnancies had been classified as “geriatric”—which was why the children were only twelve and a half months apart, there hadn’t been time to waste.
Louise Marburg is the author of two collections of stories, The Truth About Me and No Diving Allowed. Her third collection of stories, You Have Reached Your Destination, is forthcoming from EastOver Press in November 2022. Her work has appeared in such journals as Narrative, Ploughshares, STORY, The Hudson Review, and many others. She has been supported by the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, the Kenyon Writing Workshops, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
