Alan Simmons was twice recipient of Illinois Arts Council Awards, Poet-in-Residence, City of Chicago, 1979-80, and Founder of the WPA, World Poetry Association, and The Main Event, World Heavyweight Championship Poetry Fights, Chicago, Illinois – Taos, New Mexico, 1979-2001. He was nominated for a 2021 Rhysling Award. His work has recently appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies including Abyss & Apex, Kanstellation, Urban Arts, Illumen, The Novelette-Dark Fantasy, and The Reckoning. He lives in Alameda, California.
